LANGFORD, BEDS.

In December 1875 when the Welby Estate was sold at auction the surveyors had reason to believe coprolites existed under part of the land. As they had been exploited in nearby Arlesey and Astwick the sales particulars stated, ”the geological formation is similar to that in which they are worked to a large extent in the immediate neighbourhood.• (Beds.Mag.12.p225) As there are no records suggesting there were any dug in the parish it seems the land agents may have used their existance to gain a better price for the land.
