KNEESWORTH, CAMBS.

With the numerous coprolite workings going on in the nearby parishes of Whaddon and Bassingbourn from the late 1850‘s there must have been plenty of work available for men in the parish at the pits. According to the 1871 census there were 28 (or 16??) men, 7 of them from outside the village, employed in coprolite digging.( C.R.O.,RG 10/1362; V.C.H.,Cambs.,vol.8.p52.) In 1891 there were two, Stacey Woods aged 40 of Frog Hall and 29 year old Fred Rosindale. (CambRO.1891 census)
