NEWTON, CAMBS.

The nearby coprolite works of Hauxton and Harston would have attracted some of the men from Newton to work as in the 1871 census three fossil diggers were recorded, aged 22, 20, and 29, not many out of a male population of 110. In 1881 there was only one, a 23 year old, so the industry did not really affect the village as it did in other areas.
